Chickens Kaafu Atoll Maldives
“This long, fast left was one of the first Maldives surf breaks discovered byTony Hindewhen he was wrecked here in the 1970s. At its very best on rising to high tide with a swell over 2m and a light northerly wind, the wave goes up to 500m from a fast walling first section into long barrelling second section – a world class wave for skilled surfers, but great for intermediates in smaller swells.” – Blue Ocean Maldives
“This is one of the longest left handers in the Maldives. Named Chickens as it breaks onto an island that once was a poultry farm. This left hand wave can run for about 100m and wraps around the island. It’s perfect for high performance surfing or just enjoying a long board cruise down the line. Don’t attempt to paddle from Thulusdoo as you’d be crossing a deep channel with really strong currents. Take care if the swell direction is arriving very flat from SE as those close out sets will catch you. Perfect little shoulder hopping opportunity at the end that breaks into deep water for those just starting to catch green waves. There are boats from Thulusdoo that take you there in 5 minutes for about 10$. Otherwise, this wave is right in front of a resort called Kuda Villingili you can paddle out from.” – Andrew Goodman Surf Coaching
