Madeira
The autonomous region of Madeira is located about 750km southwest of Portugal’s mainland and about 400km north of Tenerife. Besides stunning landscapes to be explored, Madeira offers excellent surf, the best spots are considered on the west side of the island and during winter swells can get quite big. In addition the island hosts a few point breaks and also beginner friendly spots.
Beginner Level
The term “Beginner Surfer” refers to a surfer who has only recently begun taking surf lessons and starting to become familiar with the sport’s fundamentals, usually surfing a long soft top surfboard. After a few hours, a Beginner Surfer is able to maintain balance, paddling and catch some whitewater waves. In the end, an Advanced Beginner can catch a wave, get up on the board, and ride the breaking wave straight toward the beach.
