Sopelana is situated approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country. It is part of the municipality of Sopelana and is located on the Bay of Biscay. In front of its lush cliffs that are also popular for paragliding, you find 3 bays next to each other. There is a big parking between the beaches Sopelana and La Salvaje from where you can easily walk to both surf spots.
Reef Break
Reef Breaks sind in der Lage, gleichmäßige Wellen zu produzieren, die einwandfrei eine nach der anderen anrollen. Das Korallenriff oder der felsige Boden ist der Ort, an dem die Welle bricht. Da sich der Boden eines Riffs im Vergleich zu einem Strand nicht verändert, bricht die Welle praktisch jedes Mal auf die gleiche Weise über das Riff. Die beiden Schlüsselelemente, die beeinflussen, wie Wellen über ein Riff brechen, sind die Richtung des Wellengangs und die Gezeiten.
