Über Ryan Sakal Surfboards
While Ryan Sakal’s dad was shaping his boards Ed would allow Ryan to give his input and even let him help in many of the steps of the shaping process. That time together in the shaping room with dad planted a seed of creativity that his father could clearly see. When given the chance to shape his own boards from start to finish at the age of fourteen Ryan was hooked and began shaping boards under the family label Sakal Surfboards selling his shapes in the family surf shop in Huntington Beach CA.
Ryan’s surfing and shaping equally propelled him on a path competing in professional surf contests, surf magazine photos shoots and shaping boards around the world as an paid ambassador for many major label’s like Quiksilver, Billabong, Stussy, Town and Country, and Superbrand. Since 2014 Ryan has been working and shaping closely with Shaper Chris Christenson of Christenson Surfboards in North County San Diego CA while still surfing, shaping, and designing the brand ARYSE Company along side older brother Tristan.
As of 2020 Ryan’s life is firmly planted in the North County San Diego area with his beautiful wife and a baby boy on the way Ryan is starting his new venture returning to the family name simply calling his brand Ryan Sakal Surfboards. His focus will be on making the best boards possible for each individual surfer by continuing the tradition of custom shaping appointments and consultations. Giving surfers a chance to be a part of the shaping process and allowing the years of experience Ryan has surfing and shaping to be shared in a tangible way with each individual customer.
