YOW was born as an alternative of surfing for flat days and as a tool to make surfing available for landlocked surfers. After years of development YOW created a system that brings you the closest feeling to surfing on land. With YOW you can surf anywhere in the world. Pump, carve and tear the streets apart with YOW.
The story begins in 2014 when Andalusian engineer Juanjo Almansa, not quite convinced by the existing surfskate systems, decides to design his very own version of a surfskate in order to help his daughter train surfing inland. He then introduces the prototype to the Iraola brothers – pioneers in the construction of popsicle skateboards in Europe.
After one and a half years of intense development, YOW, which stands for “Your Own Wave”, began. Since then, the brand has expanded throughout the world becoming one of the most recognisable surfskate brands, helping people find waves, wherever they are.
YOW is and always will be in constant evolution, adapting to the everchanging world we live in, while keeping a series of values that represent the core of their company.
YOW is committed to become more than only a surfskate brand. They want to build a community and inspire the current and future generations while walking towards a more empathetic, socially responsible and ecological way of making business while staying true to themselves.
YOW has various collaborations with (former) worl champiopn Pro Surfers Mick Fanning and Gabriel Medina, as well as with some of the best shapers in the industry like Christenson Surfboards and Pyzel Surfboards.
YOW uses a coil spring system that converts almost any skateboard into a surfboard or a freeride snowboard, thanks to its tight turning radius. With YOW you can find waves, wherever you are.
The YOW Meraki surfskate system is the culmination of the last 5 years of research and development. A more simplified and reinforced design alongside our patented spring system makes it one of the most unique surfskate set ups in the world.
With this system, YOW removed the expendable parts of the old system keeping the patented spring system intact and reinforced the essential parts making it lighter and more resistant as well as improving the aesthetics. The new system is now unified to YOW’s very own skate trucks making it more stable without sacrificing the surfing flow the system is well known for. Take your surfskating to the next level.
