About INDA Surfboards
INDA Surfboards – formerly known as INDAHIGH Surfboards – is the passion project of Miguel Megias—ex-pro surfer, master shaper, and creative force behind a new era of handcrafted, high-performance surfboards.
Miguel’s journey began in the Latin American pro surf circuit, where he competed at an elite level, representing industry giants like Lost Surfboards and securing a Top 15 ranking. But something was missing—the connection between surfer and board. That’s where the premise “we surf our own boards” was born.
Determined to craft boards that perform at the highest level, Miguel immersed himself in the shaping world. INDA’s roots trace back to 2007, when he first launched Indahigh Magazine, a publication that would go on to be nominated as Latin America’s Best Surf Magazine. By 2012, his focus had shifted fully to surfboard shaping.
His journey took him across the globe, training under some of the world’s most respected shapers:
- Hawaii – Worked at a professional level with Glenn Minami, learning the intricacies of high-performance shortboard shaping.
- California – Refined shaping techniques under Bill Johnson and Maurice Guinness (Move or Die) in San Clemente, specializing in advanced surfboard construction.
- Australia – Worked under and formed a close relationship with legend Nev Hyman on the Gold Coast. Under Nev’s guidance, Miguel elevated his shaping expertise and gained invaluable insight into the power of collaboration, openness, and mentorship in the surf industry. This experience reinforced what Miguel had always believed: shaping should be about sharing, not secrecy.
But INDA isn’t just about building great boards—it’s about building a movement.
THE SHAPER FOR EVERYONE
The surf industry has long been a closed-off world, where shapers guard their knowledge, see others as competition, and make custom boards feel exclusive, unapproachable, or out of reach. Miguel has seen it firsthand in factories and shaping bays around the world. But he’s here to change that.
At INDA, we believe surfboards should be accessible—not just in cost, but in culture. No ego. No exclusivity. Just good waves, good boards, and a community that welcomes everyone.
Miguel is the kind of shaper who invites you into his world, shares his process, and makes you feel like family. Ask him any and all questions, no matter how “stupid” they may seem—he’s here for it. Whether you’re shaping your own board in a hands-on workshop, ordering a custom, or just stopping by to talk surf, you’ll always be met with openness, warmth, and real conversation.
Because the more surfers understand their boards, the more they care about craftsmanship, the more they support local shapers over mass production—and that’s how we all win.
SHAPE YOUR OWN BOARD
For those who want to go beyond just riding a board and actually shape one, INDA offers hands-on surfboard shaping workshops in Ericeira, Portugal. Under Miguel’s guidance, you’ll step into the shaping bay, learn the craft firsthand, and walk away with a custom board built by your own hands.
It’s more than just a workshop—it’s a deep dive into surfboard design, materials, and performance, an opportunity to create something unique to your style, and a chance to become part of the INDA community. Because at the end of the day, nothing feels better than paddling out on a board you shaped with your own two hands.
